Summoner of Mayhem

Feonne Eliesoux is a player character in Pathfinder with EPIC and Friends. A brumeborn Ishgardian with a checkered past, she wound up part of the band of adventurers that later came to call themselves the Agents of Mayhem through a number of coincidental jobs that put them on the track to infamy. While not above suspicion—especially by changing identities to a mild-mannered retainer to the lady Dacquoise Tart to throw her heretic ex-compatriots off her trail—she gained the party's trust by coming clean after Ser Rastier's departure, finding comfort knowing she was not the only one of the group endangered by the Holy See.

Description[edit]

Feonne is a pale-skinned Elezen woman of twenty-five summers, though a lifetime of malnourishment and poverty has left her at a rather modest height. While it's all liable to change under different costumes or the power of her glamours, her true self is rather simple -- her strawberry blonde hair is partly tied back in a french braid, leaving a clear view to her emerald eyes, and a old grimoire with scraps of notes poking out from between its pages sits on her hip, tucked into a waterproof casing and strapped on by a belt.

History[edit]

Arrelle Ameline (formerly Ameline Valeriant) started her life as a lowborn in the unforgiving Brume of Ishgard; the youngest of three, her mother died giving birth to her, leaving them all in the care of their father, a lowly conscript vying for knighthood in one of the noble houses named Forcinault. It was up to the eldest sister Lunelle to take care of the other two while their father joined the fight against the horde, and while their middle sister was a handful, Ameline was mercifully content to read whatever books they could find, as rare as they were.

By fifteen summers, Ameline had learned to use her wit and charm to coax alms from others where simple begging didn't suffice, and to keep her out of trouble, Forcinault gave her an old grimoire—it was taken from the supplies of a heretic stronghold his unit had raided, and while it was one of many pieces of gear the priests declared untainted by draconic influence, they had no arcanists to furnish with it. She spent her time learning the principles of arcanima instead, and within moons had discovered something unusual about the tome—the priests obviously weren't looking closely, because among the diagrams were encoded information. She wasted no time deciphering them out of curiosity, but upon learning that the ciphers held rendezvous points for the heretics, the fear of the Fury took her and she hid the book and the notes from her sisters altogether, spinning a tale about selling it for money instead.

Would that it have ended there, however—the Inquisitors of the Holy See gleaned the truth about the book from the survivors of the raid, and upon discovering that such vital intel was stolen from their stores, they went on the hunt for the one responsible. Eventually Ameline's father was discovered to be the culprit and put to the sword, but not before his close friend Marcus learned of the hunt for the thief and—knowing everyone associated, him included, would be tried once the theft was found out—returned to the city days prior to get Forcinault's daughters to safety. However, only Ameline chose to join him, partly as she was struck with a sudden insight into what he had witnessed and instantly understood the gravity of the situation; the older sisters didn't believe the man's tales and stayed behind to an unknown fate while the two fled with the grimoire in hand.

Of course, when forced to flee into the wilds as a heretic, equipped with naught but where to find those who earned the title, what other choice do you have than embrace it yourself?

It was fortunate that Ameline had memorized the codewords and proved endearing enough to convince the dravanian sympathizers to accept them, for they learned of the loss of their stronghold by the very unit Marcus had belonged to just days before. He briefed them on everything he knew and was put in charge of cooking—for they still didn't quite trust him—while Ameline was taught of the finer points of arcanima by the other arcanists among the dravanians when not tending to the hurts of those harmed by the steel and fire of Ishgard. The years passed and while she grew to a fine woman with a penchant for glamours, her disinterest in their belief system led to a schism, and they saw fit to put her into the role of espionage away from them, to maintain their black market contacts and hobnob with the high houses for secrets under numerous aliases.

Of course, a penchant she had, but Ameline was still inexperienced in life; a drunken tryst in the Bobbing Cork resulted in the accidental leak of the stronghold's location within Greytail Falls, and as information travelled back up north the Temple Knights saw to it being all but annihilated. Arrelle was excommunicated by the dravanians and left to fend for herself, only spared from death in return for having helped retrieve a portion of Saint Shiva's crown before. Even then she did not have long in Ishgard, for she had been sniffed out by the inquisition for her deeds as well. Ameline only avoided capture by charming a particularly weak-willed noble scion into fighting for her love, and fled once more into the wilds as before, heading south out of Coerthas for good this time.

Lacking a place to belong anymore, and only meeting with limited success blending in to Gridanian culture, Ameline instead chose to enlist in the Order of the Twin Adders under yet another alias and let herself be swept up into the Eorzean Alliance's war against Garlemald. She eventually found comraderie among other warriors who shared her uncanny insight, and with her talent for information gathering she helped her squadron find where they and others needed to be time and time again, up until the fateful night in the Carteneau Flats where the Alliance crossed blades with the VIIth Legion once more, and things got a little bit... hazy.

After everything was engulfed in light, Arrelle Ameline found herself on the outskirts of a massively altered Twelveswood, scarcely aged a day since the events five years prior. After finding her way to civilization in Thanalan and learning what all had transpired, she intends to get back on her feet once again and move on to a new life, hoping that her past remains buried under the fulms of snow coating Coerthas since the onset of the Seventh Umbral Era.

Special Abilities

Blessing of Light: As one of Hydaelyn's favoured warriors, Feonne's inner strength has been bolstered by Her. She gains a +1 trait bonus to an ability score of her choice (Charisma).

Echo: The preternatural insight bestowed upon Feonne has given her an uncanny sixth sense. She gains a +2 trait bonus to Perception checks. In addition, she gains the following special abilities.

  • Tri-Soul: Feonne's ascension as a wielder of the echo has granted her the power to split her talents among the ways of the Scholar, Summoner and Void Mage.
  • Holder of Secrets: Ameline's fear of her past and the secrets she holds from it have led her to a grave mistrust of others and currently an inability to share the truth of what happened in the past. While she has spoken to one individual about the matters before, she hides behind many masks and disguises to keep herself safe. In return, her soul has begun to shift to a beguiling shade of purple. Ameline is granted a +2 bonus to her disguise and bluff checks; however, Ameline is also mistrustful of others to a fault and has begun to lose herself inside of her false identities. She gains the Empty Mask and Nervous traits.
  • Empower (Su): Once per week, Feonne can reattune her arcanist ritual to draw out all of the latent power that her summon possesses for that day. She can only use Empower with creatures she can summon without spell level adjustments.

Martial Background: Feonne receives the Weapon Focus feat for free at first level, and may apply it to any single weapon she is proficient in.

Noble Upbringing: Ishgardian Elezen take great pride in their history, culture, and government, and Feonne uses this to her advantage. She gains a +2 bonus on Knowledge (nobility) and Knowledge (history) checks.

Race Traitor: Feonne has turned her back to Ishgard and trained to bring it down from inside and out. She gains a +1 bonus on attack rolls against other humanoid creatures of the elezen subtype.

Ritual Summon (Sp): Once per day, Feonne may summon any one creature available to her via magic of the conjuration (summoning) subschool (including her eidolon, if available). This creature remains out for her to command for the remainder of the day, or until she next rests or falls unconscious. The ritual takes ten minutes and requires unbroken concentration.

Ruin (Sp): A number of times per day equal to 3 + her arcanist level, Feonne can fire a homing bolt of force at a range of 40 feet + 5 per arcanist level, dealing 1d6 + her Int modifier force damage to a single target (reflex halves, DC 10 + 1/2 her arcanist level + her Int modifier). Every 3 levels, the damage increases by 1d6, to a maximum of 5d6 at 12th level.

Weapon Familiarity: Feonne is proficient with longbows (including composite longbows), longswords, rapiers, and shortbows (including composite shortbows).
